Hi everyone,
I'm working on a Yamaha 6hp (6M8) 2-stroke and trying to set the maximum ignition timing (35° BTDC).
The service manual says to set the flywheel to 35° and then align the timing marks on the magneto base and flywheel, but I can't find these marks anywhere.
I've looked everywhere around the flywheel and magneto base, including under the end of the flywheel, but I still can't find any timing marks.
I've attached pictures of my engine.
Can anyone show where these timing marks are located on a 6hp engine?
Also, can anyone explain the ignition timing adjustment procedure described in the service manual? The instructions aren't very clear to me, and I'm not sure I'm interpreting them correctly.
Any pictures, diagrams, or explanations would be greatly appreciated.
