I have acquired a 1968 Thunder
I have acquired a 1968 Thunderbird Shawnee with an 85HP Evinrude outboard. The boat needs a bit of attention but otherwise is in wonderful shape. The Ignition switch needs replaced. A friend of mine tried with no success. The new switch is a 6 terminal with terminals as follows
M-magneto
M-magneto
B-battery
I-ignition
S-starter
C-choke
The problem i am facing is that the wires are very confusing....they are as follows
White-Running to the starter solenoid
Green-thick with 20amp fuse
Red1-running to the manual choke switch
Red2-Running to the HOT lamp
Red3-Running to the ON lamp
Red4-dont know....believe it is a hot
Red5-was connedted with the green on the old
switch...when touched to Red4 you can hear
clicking under the flywheel
I am at wits end and would like to know how to wire up this switch so that i may figure out if there is more wrong with the motor.
Thank you
