I just purchased a project boat, 1981 Lund Pike with a 1985 Merc 60hp serial no. A110380. The stator and the trigger has some failing wire insulation. My intent is to repair the wire leads by soldering on some new wire sections and encase the splice in heat shrink tube. I have order some materials over the internet and am waiting for them to arrive.
I want to do some pre-testing and have been reading the CDI troubleshooting guide. My question is, are the resistance reading given for the stator and trigger taken with the wires connected or disconnected from the the switch box.
I second question, what is the torque spec for the flywheel nut.
