I have a 1978 35hp johnson 35853R
No charging
No magneto

I have a wiring diagram from manual had it right.

But now dropped a wire and have issues with it.

I'm using a MARPAC 7'1150 ignition switch.

Think my issue is.

1. How many wires am I using to connect to switch?

2. Think I'm missing a wire somewhere to switch?

Can you tell me what wires from motor go to the switch letters on the switch.
It was fine until i moved the wires one at a time and extra one fell off. Yes i took pic but puc didnt work

Welcome. You have to reduce picture size to under 1k, then it will load. So you have electric start with NO charging? Whatever you do DONT let any power get into the black/yellow wire leading to the power pack. This is the kill wire when grounded. The power getting to this wire will cost you $100, brother. You can buy a cheaper one but you might regret it some night in the dark when you're all alone in a storm.

??----1 wire brings power from battery.----2 black wires to " m " terminals for the magneto.----One wire to energize the solenoid for cranking.----If push to choke there is 1 wire for choke.------What colour wires do you have ?----And identify each terminal on your switch.-----Wiring is so easy , but very hard to explain to some folks.

What about slot I anything go there?
I've got killed switch. So far nothing except can make choke move.
Have 2 m slots doesn't say m1 or m2

Yeah true

One last try.---What colors wires do you have.-----What markings are there for each terminal on your switch ?----No answer means no help !

Ok its working at least for a bit. The wire for the in gear wasn't attached. But it's fixed and wired thru fuse block. But now I think I blew the fuse. I went to try it again before I left, now nothing.
Any idea what size fuse it should have? Fingers crossed 🤞

Something's wrong if the fuse blew. Please don't let power get into the black/yellow....that's all I can add. 20 amp I think.

Here is what you have. Leave the S and the I wires off until you determine which terminal on the ignition switch gets the 12 volts when you turn the key to cranking. That of course goes to the cranking terminal on the solenoid. Looking again at the solenoid then the other small terminal is your neutral safety switch. That circuit is contained within the power head wiring as a neutral safety switch or throttle position safety switch. Then the other terminal, last one here on the ignition switch, will simply provide 12 volts when the key is in the on position and that is for accessories and things like that.
