morning
thanks i wasnt sure. when i saw that last image it just made me think it was wrong. my apologies. i just getting frustrated due to this damn thing not working even after bringing to shop and dropping 1200 dollars and it still not fixed. but i tried again by removing grey wire from negative side and no fire at all put back on and it fired right up. it is a thunderbolt 4 ignition on a carberator setup. any other ideas?? i also checked fuel pressure last night and it was consistant at 9 psi.Is that enough???

"Disconnect the tach wire at the TACH not the coil..........................

The wire going to the coil is connected to the ignition control module and the tach but I dont know where. That is why when you disconnect the wire at the coil it will not start. The wire from the control module is what "fires" the coil.It has to be connected to the coil.

So if you disconnect the tach wire AT the TACH it will not interfere with that signal. If it does then you have another problem.

Has the ignition control module been replaced?

Thunderbolt IV or V is on carbed motors.

The difference is the IV the ignition control module is mounted to the manifold, the V is mounted to the distributor. Also with V there may be a KNOCK sensor in the circut. To see if you have that it would be mounted on the starter side of the engine just forward of the starter where engine block the drain plug goes. There will be a wire attached. If not then no knock sensor. See if you have it."
