Ignition problem in 4.3 lts 1999

Hi all, I have a 4.3 mercruiser and after a repair in the engine I connect the ignition system and distributor as recommended. After adjusting timing the engine cranks and run irregulary. Any suggestion would help, Thanks a lot
 
Did you mark the distributer when you removed it? If not then it may be in wrong. Are all of the plug wires tight, plugs getting spark and in the right order? Put cylinder #1 at TDC and remove the dist. cap to see where the rotor is pointing...needs to be #1. Timing I think is 8 deg. BTDC.

I did it and the engine still the same. The dealer said that he needs to submited the engine to a scan tool for interpretation and find the correct timing. It's something more that I can try ? Thanks
 
Oh I see it's a 1999 model. Is it EFI? Sorry, it's out of my league. I had a 4.3L but it was a carbed 1987. Someone else will help.
