"Can anyone maybe tell me why the fuse for the ignition which is located right beside the key to start the boat would get really hot. I mean the plastic cap that goes over the fuse got hot enough to melt a little. The fuse never blew but is was very hot as well. Boat kept running fine. The boat is a 90 model sunbird corsair, with a 4.3 omc in it."

I don't know if this is yo

I don't know if this is your problem or not but I have a pontoon boat and had the same thing on my boat...Tuned out that upon inspection the ends of the glass fuse had gotten rusted as well as the metal ends in the fuse holder and thus creating a resistive connection between the metal connectors in the fuse holders and the fuse...I cut the fuse holder out and soldered in a new one and now the new one stays nice and cool....
