Ignition Coil Connections

Does it matter how the 4 ignition coil outputs are connected to the cylinders in a year 2010 50HP Mercury 4cycle EFI outboard motor? In a 2008 repair manual, pictures and text indicate cylinders 1,2,3,4, top to bottom, but in my engine they are connected to cylinders 2,3,1,4 from coil outputs 1,2,3,4 top to bottom. The engine seemed to run ok this past summer with this connection scheme.

On a 4 stroke like that 2 coils fire at the same time.----------One of those plugs fires on compression stroke amd other fires on exhaust.------------This is reversed on the next revolution of the crankshaft.

Thank you for the info. Forgive my ignorance, but I'm trying to understand if 2 coils fire in tandem does that mean that the 2 spark plugs they are connected to fire in tandem also?? If so, I would think that the connections of the coils to the cylinders are specific, not random. Thanks again.

??----One of the spark plugs fires on the exhaust stroke and that does nothing.--------Next revolution that same sparkplug fires on compression and work is done.----It is a really somple concept.

Would the service manual for year 2010, 50hp mercury outboard, 4 cycle EFI, S/N 1C135713 indicate the top to bottom ignition coil outputs connected to cylinders 2,3,1&4 presuming the cylinders are numbered 1,2,3&4 ,top to bottom ??
