Idles fast 150GT

I've got a 1990 Johnson 15

I've got a 1990 Johnson 150GT. I started it for the first time in 5 months and it won't idle down. Before you could tap the gas or it would idle down by itself.

What can I check for?

"I just solved the same problem on my 1989 200XP.

My problem turned out to be the "Timing Advance Linkage". Discovered that the lubrication, on the internal parts, had become so deteriorated that it had the consistency of molasses. This sticking was causing the timer base to NOT return to its idle setting. After cleaning the linkage assembly, and performing a "Link-n-Sync", the idle returned to its original settings.

You might look at your timer base and see if its returning to its idle stop. If its not, check your Timing advance linkage for the problem I described. Good Luck!!"
