1986 evinrude 120 vro
I have an extreme high idle around 2500 rpm I have done the idle adjustment throttle link adjustment I know I am missing something but can't put my finger on it
it also is a rough idle but until I think it's because of the fast idle
any help is greatly appriciated

I have the full service/rebuil

I have the full service/rebuild manual but can't seem to find the pickup point setting for my year (86) it covers 88&89 models

"the timing pick up point,...i

"the timing pick up point,...is ,the amount of ignition timing, when the throttle is just starting to move,or pick-up...i would say,due to amount of spd u have,u have throttle butterflies open, mis adj,or hanging...i would re-ck to make sure they r shut, together,at idle."

"Checked the parts manual for

"Checked the parts manual for 86 and 88, the involved parts are almost the same and method should be the same. Instead of a plastic 'knob' at the adjustment arm locked with a big plastic nut, it is only a small screw and nut on the 86.
Se pos 81 and 86.

ok done that and still have the same problem any other suggestions?
by the way you guys really know your stuff and I know alot of people really appriciate the advice you give

"disc throttle cable...back ou

"disc throttle cable...back out idle adj screw,.in a case like this,..u have to basically start over...w/eng off, make sure all throttle butterflies are closed,completely,exactly..make sure timer base,is retracting,or rotating back to its retard position, make sure,ur cam,is NOT touching carb opening,roller....if all this is done, this would give u a very slow idle,..unless,..u have an air leak,or some wierd prob."

"With Cam (scribe mark&#41

"With Cam (scribe mark) not touching the throttle cam roller, make sure that all throttle butterflies are closed, and when opening them by hand, all butterflies are evenly open. If improperly set, with the roller still not touching the cam, loosen the screw on that plastic horizontal connecting arm that connects the throttle bodies together so as to allow the butterflies to snap completely closed, then retighten that screw.

Butterlies should just start to open when scribe mark on cam is dead center with the throttle cam roller. Loosen roller to adjust as needed.

Thousands of parts in my remaining stock. Not able to list them all. Let me know what you need and I'll look it up for you. Visit my eBay store at:
