Idle problem 115 2+2

Started having idle problems. so bad the gears were slapping noisy. It ran great above 1200 rpm. I sure am suspecting an idle port blockage on 1 of the 2 carbs that have those ports. Is there anything else I should consider? what 2 carbs have those idle ports, and how should I clean them?

The motor idles on the top 2 cylinders.----Post the actual values you get on a compression test.----Check gearcase oil.-----Running with tested oil injection or mixing at 50:1 in the fuel tank?

Thanks for reply, I got it on muffs now (ran for 10 minutes) and can't see anything wrong. It is running great, in gear and out. the idle problem happened instantly while in water on 3 day trip. I will be checking unit oil, The gear slap I think was from the engine being off for 3 cylinders, then on for one cylinder while prop was in gear and in water. I have the injection still in use. That oil level is watched and the level goes down each day. Many sharpie marks on tank. LOL Could a non spark in one of the top 2 cause this also?

Running in gear on muffs is still neutral.----Prop does no work fanning the air !!!------Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" on a test device , yes or no.----Test all 4 leads.----Post the actual compression numbers here to receive further input.

I did spark check and compression on same cranks top to bottom 125 125 120 125 all have blue-load spark. at 3/8

I see in manual that the top of carb is the mixing/idle chamber . I guess there are holes on the atmosphere side of throttle plates. I am thinking I could get some carb spray with a straw tube and blow thru those holes. Maybe turn idle screws in and count how many turns to seat... then turn them way out, then spray again, then reseat and back off turns. Do you have any thought on where a common blockage point is? I guess the fuel has to go past main jet, then get to mixing chamber somehow. Any thoughts on this?

Checked flywheel key ( timing ) , possibly sheared.-----An " instant " issue would suggest that something failed / broke.-----Remove carburetors and inspect reed valves.----Possibly a broken petal?----Sorry , I was not there and I can not see , hear or feel your motor.

Oh crap.. you saying that reminded me. I did, gently bump a submerged mooring pole. right before the bad idle started. I'll get my timing light out. Thanks.

I am thinking the stator is the stationary coils under the flywheel. Can this be seen without flywheel removal? I looked best I could... without teardown. 1992 115 HP.

I pulled the lower oil drain. small amount of metal on magnet... oil looks new.
A little bit of metallic film on the magnet is normal and for a properly operating LU, the amount really amounts to how long its been since oil change....note I said film, not pieces.

I got to checking the flywheel key. I got top cylinder to TDC. I can't find a timing tab. there are marks on flywheel(the .5540) but nothing to align that to. Is there a place to align to?

I tyipically do it two or threes times in violent succession to prove I've been stupid. I must have a thick skull because it should have a dent in by now. Run Forest, run....

I got digital calipers. I found TDC of top cylinder. I moved piston down .554, put cover back on...marks line up perfectly.
