Idle adjustment

 I haven't fixed my surge problem yet, but after doing carb kits I need to adjust the idle needle. My book says I need a partner and do it running on the lake. It won't idle until I speed up a little bit and I don't have a partner at this time. Question is can I leave the boat tied to the trailer, put it in the water and put it under a load run it hard enough to keep it running and make the adjustments. And how hard is it to adjust one carb when there are 6. Wouldn't the other 5 kinda down out the sound of the one you are adjusting?

to be really truthful here.......you need to have a shop properly sync the carbs, and make the settings. you ar setting yourself up for trouble.

if you have done a good job with your rebuild, the recommended idle screw settings in your manual should run the motor. you can do initial settings on a water hose. this will get you close. a barrel of water would be even better.

I believe I did a good job and it will run. But it won't idle, I have to speed up a little more than a nice idle. I would like to get to a point were it would idle so I could tune it in better on the lake.
