idiling noise

my 2002 Honda 90hp when idling in gear on the water hose the gears rattle in the foot. I raise the rpms just a few rpms and it goes away. foot oil is changed yearly . is this normal? thanks in advance,new member long time lurker

could be the transmission. Have you looked into it?

A rattle/chatter in gear idling on a hose is normal if running a stainless steel prop, due to the weight of the prop combined with gear backlash.

Bob thanks for the info. I want to repower with fuel injection and I wanted to know about the chatter before I put the motor up for sale. I can get a yammy 90 for 8500 with new controls and gauges. a new Suzuki white color 8700 and the Honda is approx. 800 bucks more . somebody tell me if these are decent deals all are outstanding dealers thanks again.
