I need some help on a 1999 Yamaha 25hp 4 stroke

1999 yamaha 25hp 4 stroke, wouldnt start, heard clicking/buzzing sound from solenoid/started area. Replaced both did the same thing and then battery terminals melted off and smoked....Any idea's whats wrong with this thing?

Clean your battery posts and it will fix your problem. if that doesn't fix your problem measure the power at the main power feed at the starter selenoid while you cranking. If you get 12V then your battery connection is OK and the next culprit is your selenoid. But you had replaced it so I am sure it's your battery terminal is not making good contact.

Found the problem the new starter was missing some bushing inside and shorting out......Got that fixed starts great now.....Now to fight with the company that sold me the starter for some money back and to replace the battery...wish me luck!
