I have a 1992 rinker with a 3.0 mercruiser engine. My old motor went bad so i replaced it with a 3.0 mercruiser that is bored .060 over. My problem is i have went through 2 engine couplers. They burn up and the rubber goes everywhere. If anyone can help me as to why it is doing this or a way to fix it it would be greatly appreciated.

Agree on the alignment...but if the coupler fails right away are you confident there isn't a problem w/the OD?

It doesnt fail right away. I ran it for about 2 hours before it failed. Should the shaft coming from the outdrive move side to side. Also how do i adjust the motor alignment my front mount is mounted in the factory holes in the hull so do i adjust it up or down

1 locate the manual for your engine
2 read the manual a few times
To replace the motor you had to pull the drive first, YES NO
when you installed the motor ,you checked the alignment YES NO
OR DID YOU DO THE UNTHINKABLE AND SLIDE THE MOTOR FOWARD?????????????????????????????????

Here's what your goal is (see attached thumbnail view) while using the alignment tool and while adjusting the height of the front of the engine via the OEM adjustment stud/nuts arrangement.
