ok guys i need help,i have an older johnson 9.9 hp motor.heres the problem i need to get a carborator kit for it,but i have no idea of what year it is. the modle#is 9r-73b and the serial is j3754203.any help would be apprecatted

9.9 hp, r=rope start 73=1973 b=production run/suffix

Both this site and BRP are calling it a 9.50 instead of a 9.9 but still comes back to the 73 year. Carb kit : http://www.marineengine.com/newparts/part_search.php

9R73B is a 1973 9.5hp Johnson. 9.9's didn't start until 1974.
