I have troubles with my 70hp mariner

"Hello , I bought a 70 hp mariner on ebay that was suposed to be better than it is , after a long drive to get it , a lot of work to install it ( lots of things needed fixing ) fixed the tilt and trim too . It did not come with the original wiring loom etc. and so i have re-used the wiring off my chrysler 45hp (1982)
It still would not go , so after a lot of looking I found the white wire to the trigger was not attached where it entered the trigger body

. So I got a replacement one and installed it , did every thing right but still no spark .!
Question 1. I have all wires accounted for except the Brown wire coming from the rectifier , where should it conect to ?
Question 2 . How can I test the power pack , should the white/black wire going to the the trigger have power in it with the ignition on ?
I have put a lot of effort into this engine and would love to get it going so I would really appreciate your help please p.s how old is my engine please it's number is A8063172"

"Sounds like you,ve created yourself a major headache. The ser# you gave doesn,t match up in my book. Is it oil injected? I would probably check the basics out first-compression on the motor will tell you if you should waste any more time on this motor. If OK then I would seek out the proper control box and key switch with control cables to match the engine first. The wiring colours from an old Chisler are not the same as Mariner!! "disconect the black/yellow wire and jump the solinoid, now look for spark, and yes remove all your previos wiring"
 
The Brown wire on the rectifie

The Brown wire on the rectifier is usually used as a sender signal for the tachometer.
