"My problem is a buzzer. I started my '76 Evinrude 85 horse motor today with ear muffs on AND in a large tub of water. i only let it run about 5 mins and cut it off. I went inside and watched the last 100 laps of Bristol and went back out to start it again. As soon as I turned the key on, the buzzer went off. I started the motor and then cut it back off. I felt of the heads thinking it was overheated but the heads were only slightly warm. What could this buzzer mean? The motor only ran 5 mins and the water was pumping good? Faulty buzzer? PLEASE help. By the way, I just went out and turned the key on again and it went off again. Heads were completely cold."

"The motor was hard to start so I changed plugs, never got over idle speed. I only ran it for 5 mins then cut it off for about an hour. that's when the buzzer went off. Left it alone for another hour and buzzer still sounds.. By the way, the buzzer never went off before today."

"I put Champion QL77 JC4 back in it. that's what it had.
I didn't leave it running with the ears on. I was right there, it only idled for 5 mins, then I cut it off, cut the water and watched the race. I came back out after an hour to start it again and that is when the buzzer went off. never even tried to start it when it went off. I did start it up and cut it right back off. I felt the heads but they were cool. BTW, the ears were brand new."

"Might be a shorted horn, but

"Might be a shorted horn, but try to disconnect all alarm cables/switches at engine first.(Temp switch at cyl heads). If horn stops, then one switch is probably defect/grounded. If not, take apart the control and remove the brown cable from horn. Put on ign. If alarm goes on - horn defect."
