I have a 2003 Johnson 70hp 4 stroke that is throwing the check engine light

When I get to about 3000 RPM it throws the check engine light and getting a code 12. Anyone know what that code is?

No, the service engine light come on at about 3000 RPM when you put it back in idle after about 30 seconds the light goes off. Is it possible it could be the regulator/rectifier?
