"I bought an Arrow glass w/ 76 Evinrude 85. I had a new water pump installed and only took the boat out once. It ran fine and never overheated. Tonight, I wanted to make sure everything was good as I am/was taking my wife out on it Friday for the first time. I hooked up the muffs and cranked it (yes I turned the wATER ON FULL). I only let it idle and all of a sudden the heat alarm went off.
With this and some wireing problems, I am about ready to give up and go back to bank fishing. Any suggestions?"

"a major prob w/muffs...is that the owner thinks they are tight,when it is not,...if metal,squeeze together..before inst on eng.the 2 muffs need to be close as poss,so as to create a tight as poss seal on lu...wtr on fully...if plastic arms on muffs,throw away.water,as high as cav plate is still not high enuf in barrell...another 5-6 inches deep."

"At times, I clamp the muffs in a vice and squeeze them tightly together so that they make a good fit on the lower unit water intake.

Also, regardless of the fit, observe them closely as they will (at times) change position due to viberation."
