Hydrohoist adjustment questions

I just bought a used Hydrohoist. It’s an Ultra lift, 5000 lb capacity so it’s fairly late model.
I need to adjust the width for the berth I’ll be using and the tubes that slide inside one another don’t slide easily. There not bad, ie, no corrosion, but they are metal on metal that’s been together for awhile.
I need to widen the lift 6”. 3” per side to keep the floats centered. I beet on the ends of the female tube and they move but not much and not easily. I don’t want to mess up the ends of the tubes.
Has anyone ever done this? What did you use to push lift sections wider?
Any tips or tricks would be appreciated.

Not familiar with that particular model but with others that had tubes, a heat gun is you friend and, sometimes, some solvent (PB Blaster) helps...
A torch can work as well but usually requires more prep.

If you need to use a hammer, a cap over the end of the tube should help minimize any distortion due to the hammer.

I'd imagine in a worst case scenario, a porta-power tool could be of benefit.

Have adjusted a few but not the newer models.
The older ones had ends cut down the corners a bit so when clamp was applied it applied load to inner square tube

Loosen up as much as you can then use crowbars and wedges if necessary. Port a power would also help

Can you post some pics of yours?
