I had someone help me tune up the ignition on my '69 40hp lark and he said I should be happy that my outboard fell amongst the group of motors that had their real HP rated at the prop versus the flywheel. Is this true? #40973R. What's the standard these days?

Rating at the prop did not come into effect on OMC motors till the mid 80's. So your buddy knows not of what he speaks.
