how to stop leaking carb

Hello,
I am working on a 2002 Merc two stroke model 15m, S/n OT531949.
I plan to rebuild the carb on this motor. All the Merc carbs similar to this
one that I have rebuilt in the past continued to leak after rebuild. There is
no needle seat available for this carb. Is there a trick to rebuilding this carb
so the needle valve does not leak afterwards. I have adjusted the float on
all of them.

Take an old fashioned pencil with the erase on the end, sharpen it to a point, and 'hone' the seat with it in an electric drill.

About all you can do.

PS: Have you tried setting the float level a bit lower, say 1/16 inch?
