How to replace 1988 Johnson 15hp (E15RCCS) cam throttle control

I recently purchased a 1988 Johnson / Evinrude 15 hp outboard (E15RCCS). Upon starting, I noticed that there was only a small fraction of throttle range when twisting the tiller throttle control. I inspected the throttle linkage and found the cam throttle control (part # 0396740) broken off, and the throttle shaft roll pin had separated from the linkage. The cam throttle control is a triangular-shaped piece of black plastic with an adjustment screw attached. The cam throttle control appears to be sandwiched between the Retainer and Link Assembly (0395243) and Support, Armature plate (0322102).

Now my question: How do I replace the cam throttle control?

I've studied a "Johnson Service Manual 9.9 thru 30 Models" and have not been able to find a description of how to replace the cam throttle control. I've ordered the cam throttle control, but have not yet received it. Perhaps the part itself will give me clues about how to install it.

Please help me. I am not a mechanic, but I'm a quick learner motivated to fix this motor.

You need a special flywheel puller to pull off the flywheel, now you can remove the base by unscrewing several small screws. Now you can change the cam.

Thank you, everyone. I've been studying the Service Manual and Section 3.8 explains how to remove the flywheel using the OMC Universal Puller Set P/N 378103; and Section 3 describes how to remove the armature plate underneath the flywheel. But, there's not an explanation of how the cam attaches to the lowermost plate/ring. I guess I will pull off the flywheel and remove the armature plate to expose the throttle cam. As kimcrwbr1 suggests, the cam may simply snap into place, and be held firmly in place between the two plates/rings. I will let you know how it turns out. If you have any tips about removing the flywheel, I'll accept all expert advice available. The Service Manual says, when installing the flywheel, to coat the threads of the flywheel nut with OMC Gasket Sealing Compound, then torque the nut to 45-50 ft.lbs. Is there a substitute gasket sealing compound that could be used that can be obtained at an auto parts store (there's no OMC products available within 200 miles of my house). Likewise, is there another product to use in place of OMC Cleaning Solvent?

It does NOT just snap in place !!!--------Pull the flywheel------------loosen a few of the screws near the cam on the stator plate and remove old cam.------------It sits in 2 holes on the lower plate ( you can see where they stick through the plate )----------Working on / rebuilding 3 motors just like yours at the moment. --------Just torque the nut.------No need for sealant and just use any varsol or laquer thinner as a cleaner.
