, I would probably consider replacing the A cam with a K or a V cam, then install a forged crank and set of pistons from the AQ151, then install an oil cooler, then install a new manifold with a Weber carb. But then I would look at the amount of work involved and also would get hold of my calculator and work a few figures. Soon after, I would probably start shivering and suffering from cold sweats and tachycardia and my blood pressure would skyrocket.

Then I would soon realize that for the small gain in HP it would not be worth spending an unreasonable large sum of money and putting in quite a bit of time.

Reality check. If you want to keep your current boat but also want more horsepower, you will have to go to a V6 or a V8. Your best bet would be to get a complete package (engine, drive, transom shield, etc) that has the same transom shield bolt pattern, then sell yours on eBay. You would be better off that way than trying to modify your current package.

But if you don't desperately want to keep your current boat, I'll second what Rob said: your best bet is probably selling your boat and getting another one."

"Thanks guys for the input and reality check. I really should not be complaining(except I want to go faster, so do the kids) I just bought this boat for 1500.00 and have not had any problems, didn't do anything to it, just put it in the water and go. purrs like a kitten. I'll probably just keep an eye out for a v6 when and if this motor finally goes. I think it's the original motor. I'm pretty new to the boating world and this discussion board has already helped me out on a few things already. thanks again chris"
