I have a 1994 Mercury Mariner 40 HP and the fluid in my power trim / tilt unit looks milky instead of clear. I removed the plastic plug where you add fluid and tried using an oil extraction pump to remove the fluid but it didn't really remove much fluid. After refilling the little fluid that was removed, I raised and lowered the motor and rechecked the fluid, which turned out to still be milky instead of clear.
Does anyone know how to drain ALL of the fluid and then do a complete refill? I did call Mercury Customer Support and the guy told me to turn the unit upside down and drain the fluid through the refill plug area. That is a little difficult since the unit is attached to a boat!
Any help and suggestions would be most appreciated!!!
