Hi
I have a 1986 or so 150hp mariner that seems to flood often and is frequently hard to start. I've cleaned it out with sea foam and have replaced the plugs. What should I do next to see if I can make it run better? - rebuild the carb?
Thanks much.

"Just to add to JB's advic

"Just to add to JB's advice, do NOT simply disconnect the gas line and run it out of gas if your oil injection is intact.

With the gas line disconnected, in an attempt to drain the carbs (a common practice on smaller motors), the oil pump keeps pumping and you end up with oil flooded carbs and crankcase. That is even more of a pain in the butt the next time you try to start than any gas flood you have dealt with.

So always run stablized gas and if you are going to lay the motor up for longer than a few weeks, remove the carbs and drain them by emptying the bowls..."

"Thanks for the info. I have never cleaned a carb before. What exactly would I need to do? Also from reading other posts, if I do take the carbs off should I automatically replace the needels and floats - if so is this fairly easy to do?
Thanks again for the help."
