How to change a shifter

"i have a broken shift handle

"i have a broken shift handle on a mariner 4 hp ser# 058273.i recently recieved a manual and removed the powerhead,only problem is i cant remove the broken shifter from bottom cowling. its round and has a grese fitting but doesnt seem to have a circlip or anything holding it dont want to pry to hard but im getting impatient.any help would be greatly appreciated thank you for your time, bill"

The Yamaha built 4 horses are different than Merc built models..

The Yami/Mariner linkage is held by a bolt (number 5 in the diagram)

sorry the rest is 6e0 s 058273. i removed the bolt but it seems to be stuck.probably been there since1984.mariner website doesnt seemto have shifter any idea where i can find one thanks bill.

"If you are talking about the shift handle itself (number 1 in the pic) that is Merc part number 91773M still available through any Merc dealer (about 40 bucks).

And yes, probably just a little seized - persuade it to come out

"thanks graham,looked up part#91773m and it came right up.i really appreciate your help.my manual doesnt show part numbers,do you know part# for #2 on your drawling?im also trying to find part #for powerhead gasket,an oil seal gasket an o ring for lower oil seal housing and seals and o ring for magneto base. thanks... bill."
