How to change a shifter

i have a 1984 4hp mariner the

i have a 1984 4hp mariner the shifter lever broke.what is involved in changing it out?also where could i find a new handle?thank you. ser#6e0 s 058273

Not really an overly involved process, just a few bolts really, but also requires the replacement of the powerhead to exhaust gasket.

Still, not something you should attempt without a manual..."
