"Hi
I have a SeaKing VWB 52299 9.9hp Chrysler motor purchased from Montgomery Ward in 1980 or 1981 }
It has been on a motor stand in garage - only has apx 20 hrs on it. This is in very clean condition
Can anyone tell me what the $$value would be on this if I were to sell it, have someone interested in it.
thank you

"Your model number VWB 52299 &

"Your model number VWB 52299 (without a letter following the numbers) would indicate a 1980 model.

9.9's are popular motors for small boats or "kickers" on larger boats, and do tend to hold decent value.

However, Chrysler is now an orphaned motor with no dealer network and parts getting scarce. So while a 9.9 of that vintage from OMC or Merc may go for 1000 bucks if running well, I would suspect that 500 dollars may be at the high end of what this motor would bring on the used market.

The "only 20 hours" may be a dis-advantage. That indicates that the motor has sat idle for most of it's life and that in itself could result in countless problems..."
