I just changed the oil and filter on my engines. The owners manual says they each hold 7 qts. with a new filter. I added 7 qts. and as the manual says, ran the engines for 5 minutes and then waited 5 mins. then checked the level. Port engine shows full, starboard shows 1 qt. low, how is that possible ?

A quart low isn't a big deal. You may have gotten more old oil out of th other motor.

But how can can you pour 8 qts. into a container that is suppose to show full with 7 qts. ??

Switch dipsticks and see what you get. 7 qts filled my engine when it was new.

"does that engine have a remote oil filter, or longer hoses on a remote oil filter? That would require more oil."

Where both engines marking the same level on the dip sticks prior to the oil change or was one already running low??
