"Hi,I recently bought a 1981 thundercraft flamingo,i8.5 ft,185hp 3.8lt v6.the boat is in perfect cond.it has a 14.5x21 prop.the rpm is around [email protected] speedo reads 40mph,this does not seem right to me.should be around 45-46mph.the boat planes very fast and handles well.any thoughts?thanks"

"boat speedos are not accurate....use a GPS to measure the speed...I'd suspect you are hitting 45 mph but you should verify the tachometer's accuracy too if the GPS doesn't solve this. When I had the 21P on my 3.8, I found the MPH and RPM were dead even
