How does the 50A breaker work/reset

I have an electrical problem where there ie absolutely no electrical power to anything including the blower, igntion etcetc.

I have isolated the problem to iether the 50A breaker or the wire harness plug.

How does one "test" the breaker or know if it has tripped or not. How does one "reset" it--when i press it nothing seems to happen.

most are manual reset styles...the button "pops" out when tripped. resetting is done by physically depressing the 'button' back into the main body of the breaker. some of the newer units have automatic resetting breakers. they reset once they have cooled off enough.

You can test either with a test light. Ground the clip end and probe either stud. The battery side should glow all the time, the other side will glow as long as the breaker is closed. It is best to have a load connected when testing the high current breakers as some failure modes will indicate voltage present but the internal contacts won't pass much current.
