How do I find out model and hp

I have a evinrude motor and al

I have a evinrude motor and all I have is the sn.55025-E04024 I sure would like some help finding out what it is. thanks Bill.

55025 should be the model numb

55025 should be the model number that IDs it but I cannot find that listed. Have you perhaps mis-read it.

55075 is a 1979 55hp. Thats the most likely I could see.

or 50525 is a 1961 75hp

Yes thanks that realy helps. now i can try and figure out why it will not start I cancheck thr point gap and so on I have pulled my arm off trying to get it started lol. Thanks again. Bill ps any ideas on what might be wrong?

"Check the ignition first. Points, plugs (J6C at 0.030" if its a '65 5 hp) condition of coils etc. Condenser even.

Make sure you can get a good bright spark.

Once you have a good spark then you can start looking at the carb which could well be in need of a clean. A throrough clean that is. All jets etc cleaned through. No good just waving a can of carb cleaner at it."
