How are the evinrude SPL112s?

I have owned a few boats in my life and they all have always been oil injected or 4 stroke-I recently bought a Nitro with a SP112 which was an extremely good deal, it runs on the hose no problem, tested solid compression across all 4-only issue was the trim which i fixed.....

But I cannot seem to find much feedback on this engine besides it NOT being oil injected and needs to have a 50:1 ratio....

Anybody have any feedback on this engine? Good/bad/Ugly? Thanks

In the day folks were offered a choice.-----A 115 hp or the same motor with 112 hp decals.-----The 112 was offered without oil injection or the trim and tilt.----A lower price option.-------Many have had trim installed later.

Do you mean 112 SPL? As Racerone said, it's just a 115 without oil injection. They are pretty tried and true motors. Is it a 90's vintage? I think they offered 48, 88 ,and 112 in the SPL line and were basically a lower cost option.

Running on those hose can be misleading on a V4. The real test is either in the lake or in a barrel.

Yes sorry. It's an SPL.

Strange it didn't come with trim and tilt from the factory because it has a trim and tilt button built into the motor itself.

Hopefully get out on the lake tonight and see how it is

Most of the V4 SPL motors I have seen have T/N/T installed on them. Just for the fact that they are just to darn heavy to lift.

Took the boat out tonight after sitting in a garage for a couple of years and it ran very well.

A little rough at first take off but cleared up and ran great

going to put a new set of spark plugs in it and some fresh gas

tested compression 120psi on al 4
