Hot wire on motor

"Again the motor is a 2.5L GM/OMC motor. There is a wire comming from the ignition coil to the cannon plug and it get very hot. Is this normal. I just replaced the block and removed all the electrical tape and noticed this wire was very warm/hot to the touch, just wondering if it was normal or if not why it was doing this? Thanks for helping me."

"Is this from the positive post of the coil and is it the purple with red stripe wire? If so this is your resistor wire and it's normal for it to get warm. It's job is to reduce the voltage to the coil while running so it has a voltage drop across it the same way some engines havea ballast resistor (You can burn yourself on those)

Yes it is a purple wire with red stripe. It is also from the positive post of the coil. If it is normal all is good then. Thanks for your help.
