"My Mercruiser 5L Alpha 1 Gen

"My Mercruiser 5L Alpha 1 Gen 2 gets a hot exhaust elbow on the starboard side. I notice this in my driveway when I idle it with the "headphones". Is this normal at low engine speeds? I've never noticed any problems when I'm out on the river, but I don't often remove the engine cover when I'm out and about."

"One side is always warmer than the other. If you can lay your hand on it w/o getting burned then all is ok. If not, then you may have a water flow issue. What does the engine temp gauge tell you?"
 
Engine temp is fine--right in

Engine temp is fine--right in the center where it's always been.

Thanks for the response--I just needed someone to tell me that one side would be warmer than the other--enjoy your winter!
 
yep my starboard has always ru

yep my starboard has always run a little hotter using the hand on the elbow test. 1994 5.7 liter.
