Hooking up remote controls to merc 15 h.p. elect start

I have a 1996 15 horse electric start mercury that is designed for remote controls. I purchased a used Quicksilver 2000 8 pin control and it all hooks up sweet as pie. Only problem is that I cannot start or choke it via key. The key kills the motor as does the kill switch, but it wont start via key. Thus I either have to use pull rope or jump the solenoid to start it. Any ideas? Im scratching my head bald here.
 
As far as the fuse goes, I have checked the continuity through it. Its good. As far as the neutral safety switch goes, shouldn't the choke still function?
 
Different motor. I believe I may have figured it out. The red wire with the fuse is on the exciter post of the solenoid. If im not mistaken, it belongs on the hot post. Been studying schematics all morning. Going cross eyed. Will try to change it when I get home.
 
Problem is fixed! Not only was a wire on wrong terminal, had a broken hot wire just inside the harness. All repaired and starts like a champ! Thank you for the help.
