Hooking up external Tachometer

I have this older analog Tach that still works great:

Was wondering where the best place to connect it to my engine (1989 Johnson 100 J100STLCEM)? And also compare results with my Tach gauge on console.
Looks like Grey wire is the Tach signal.. possibly the terminal board?

they grey wire is your tach signal for the marine tach..not sure about this thing though...it may feed off the ignition....don't know if it would damage the regulator if wired to the grey..i would not chance it..you got a manual for this thing?instruction book?

good to know Kim...your meter looks similar to mine..a klein...i had a meter similar to his many many years ago....i think i bought it for dwell..i think i remember it as a waste of money...
