Hone and ring 20 hp evinrude (1992)??

I have a 1992 20 hp evinrude that is reading a little low on the compression. Its at a 108-110psi cold, but drops down to 102-105 when warm. The cylinders are evenly compressed, so i don't think they are gouged or anything, but i suspect the psi drop is telling me that the rings aree nearing the end of their usefullness. Just curious if anyone has had this done, and how effective it was at raising the compression #'s.??....Also a ballpark idea on what it costs to have a marina do it??

Time to relax.-----And you would be shocked at what this would cost at a qualified shop.----And it might be hard to find a shop looking for work like that.-----I do not believe those compression numbers are that bad.----And how do you know your gauge is reading accurately.-----What is your motor doing / not doing ??-----What other trouble shooting has been done.----How long have you owned it ?----All important points that you can answer if you like.

Well, i guess i assumed the guage was accurate being brand new, but are they known to be innaccurate at times??, the motor acts fine for now, i just wanted to be ahead of the game if loose rings would do further damage to the cylinders...The motor was de-carbed maybe 30-40 hours runtime ago, I bought it used a year and a half ago, but it looked brand new,(appearance wise) and i think the compression numbers they quoted me were because of carbonization buildup. I guess I could try another gauge for reference.

Just run it.------No need to fix this excellent motor if it runs / idles for you.------I do not believe you need to take it apart at all.

I agree with Racer. Is there any signs it's been overheated? Discoloration on the head? Did you do the compression test with both plugs out and a nice fast spin? What was the proceedure for the decarbonization and why do you think it was required? Are you using non Oxy fuel with good quality oil? This was the 100:1 era. I would not recommend that ratio unless you are using the kind of oil that I use and have used for 40 years, Amsoil.
