I have a BF50 4-stroke (pre '99 model) . A continuous alarm went off the other night briefly. Then the next day I ran it up on plane for about 4 miles no problem, then alarm starts going off. When I slow down to trolling speeds it was fine. But every time I hop back on plane it alarms again and I feel it start to bog like it's being limited. So I trolled it back home 5 miles no issue. I noticed oil was low (and was planning to change anyway), so I did that. Ran it 3 miles on plane no problem, then trolled for 2 hours, and ran back home 3 miles on plane -- no alarms. Figured it was just an oil level and considered it fixed. Then I took it out again today, idled half mile out of canal, hop on plane -- alarm/bogging again.
Otherwise it's running smooth and peeing normally. Only other thing I can say is there's a bit of a "squeal" on startup lately (but I'm guessing that's unrelated).
Likely causes of alarm? What should I check? Thanks
