Honda BF225 cutting out at high altitude

I have a BF225 and I was out at the lake last weekend and my engine was cutting out at speeds just over idle. the lake elevation was 7500 feet above sea level and I think that this might have been the problem. No warning lights were lit up, it just seemed like the engine was not getting enough fuel.

This the first time that this has happened, but I normally run the engine at lakes closer to sea level.

has anyone run into this problem before? any suggested modifications?
