Honda BF15 2001 15hp stalls after letting off gas too fast

It needs the choke out to warm up, then it idles normally with no choke. Cruises around all ranges of throttle with no problems.
The problem happens if I kill the throttle too fast.

I noticed this after cruising top speed and killing it, it stalls out.

Also when trying to maneuver my boat onto my trailer with just little bursts of throttle, it stalled a number of times.

Trying to diagnose myself, so far i have already:

Fuel used is day old 91 octane.
Adjusted the idle screw to the factory specs.
Disassembled and inspected the carb and jets (no gunk or dirt visible). blasted the ports and jets with
carb cleaner and compressed air.

Disconnected and flushed the fuel lines (compressed air).
Inspected the fuel filter. (like new)
Removed cover of fuel pump, (no gunk or buildup).
Replaced spark plugs

Any suggestions of what might be the problem here?

You are sucking air from some place. Typically around your primer bulb, if you lines are original they are due for a change the ethanol eats the lines from the inside out. Tighten all joints internal and external with new clamps/zip ties and try again.

I had a similar problem on a 25 hp and between my lines being loose, my fuel filter looked good, but was actually plugged up. They are super cheap to replace so just replace it.

Awesome thank you! i will give that a shot.

fixed it! at least in my driveway with no load on the propeller it doesnt bog down at all after cutting it! Will test it out on the water this weekend. Thank you for the advise!

What did you determine was the issue? Did you have loose connections?

sorry for the late reply,

I installed an aftermarket fuel filter in line with the external fuel hose that goes to the tank. The unit has a replaceable filter and it was not screwed together tight enough and was letting air through!

I also noticed some cracking in the hose on either side of the primer bulb, which i just cut about a half inch from either side and good as new.
