Honda BF 150 Aux Charge

Does the Honda BF150 have an auxillary charge circuit/lead available for remote charging of a house battery?

While looking at the wiring diagram of the motor, it shows a lead, indicated by dotted wires, going from the 90A fuse from the alternator to a battery...

Can I add a wire there? As long as it is on the other side of the fuse, it would protect the alternator.

I could also use a Blue Seas combiner to accomplish the same thing....but just wondering if I can do it the old fashioned way....

Thanks!

I do not know of an auxiliary charge circuit in the 150. What wiring diagram are you viewing? I have checked a couple of different years' diagrams and I do not see it. There may be something that I missed.

The system that I like and what the Coast Guard has used in their SAFE boats is the BEP battery distribution cluster. Honda sells them with the Honda brand on them but you can also get them on the open market from BEP.

Checkout the first three items on this page of the accessory book. http://marine.honda.com/parts/accessories/categories/battery-management

They have voltage sensitive relays that, once the starting battery is charged, it combines the batteries for charging. Once the motor is turned off, the relay disconnects the two batteries and you can drain down the second battery without discharging the starting battery. They also include a switch to jump the two batteries if the starting battery needs a jump.

The one for single engine (dual batteries) is $206.99 retail
The one for dual engine (three batteries) is $359.99 retail.

If you think about it @$30 a battery switch and about $90 for voltage sensitive relay put together in a nice little package, they are not too bad of a deal.
