"If the screw is tight, you can the following. Tighten the manual release screw. Raise the engine. Make sure that the fluid level is topped off. Then loosen the manual release to lower the engine slowly. Tighten the screw again. Raise the engine again. Loosen the screw to lower the engine... Do this several times. This can help the o rings seat. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Otherwise, you may have some issues with the valve body."

"Hi Mike. I have the same problem as Joe. I did the same as u prescribe - only withouy using the manuel release, just letting the hydrolic pushing the engine up and down. But it still sounds as if there´s air inside the oil. What can i do."

Has anyone had problem with engine fire on a 2004 honda 90. caught fire and the vent was not working

"Svend,

Use the manual release. Most of the point of using the manual release is to reseat some o rings in the valve body. Give it a try."

"Jerry,

Not sure what you mean be vent not working. The only fires I have seen on Hondas are when someone has connected the battery wrong and the wiring harness, cabling and dash burn up.

Leaky fuel line and spark can be a problem on any motor."

Thanks Mike. The engine crank

Thanks Mike. The engine cranked and sputtered some but leveled out then there were 3 explosions under the cover. The top vent on the cover is there to allow fumes to escape I thought. During the fire no smoke even came out of the vent. I am trying to get Honda to make some adjustment on a new engine. I think the design of the vent is defective. Motor has less thn 50 hours.

"Jerry, I am sure they told you, the vent on the top is actually an air intake. Good luck."

"Mike. I gave it a try with new oil (red servo), it worked (as usual) a few times after refilling, then the lifting power got weaker, and eventually died. Whats the cost of a brand new trim?"

"I do not know what red servo

"I do not know what red servo oil is. We usually use the Honda Power Tilt and Trim Fluid or in a pinch use Dextron II or III automatic transmission fluid.

When you said it died....does the motor run?
If it does, maybe the fluid you used is the wrong kind.

If the motor died, check battery connections and make sure they are tight. Or...you may have blown the fuse on the motor.

I new complete power trim unit is over $2000 USD.

I would try changing the fluid before paying $2000 plus labor."
