"I have a 4 stroke 8hp Honda outboard from 2000. It did run very well since I’ve bought it few years ago.
This year it still starts well after just two or three pulls, but then RPM is up and down and unless the choke is being pushed in gradually it stalls. If it’s pushed back to quickly it stalls, if I keep it out the RPM goes very high. I didn’t have to pay to much attention to the choke in the past.

Engine still runs well when it’s in gear and at normal RPM – I use it mostly at about 1/3 of it’s full power. But then it stalls some time at idle when even when it’s warm.

I could have some water in my fuel tank over the winter, but I flushed it out and put in new fuel before I’ve run the engine in the spring.

I would truly appreciate any suggestions"

They are fairly simple to clean---take it apart. It is cheaper than buying other parts to hope that something will fix it.
