my honda 40hp 4stroke is hooke
my honda 40hp 4stroke is hooked up to a mercury side shifter.I constantly have problems getting it to shift into the gear you use to start the engine in neutral.The shifter is very rough.I dont know how old it is but the motor and the pontoon boat are 2001 model so i assume the merc shifter is as well. I am thinking about replacing the shifter with an original equipment Honda control but they arent cheap.Could my problem be something other than the shifter itself. the boat and motor run fine other than the shifting problem.Thanks for any help.
