Honda 200 ECM replacing with used one

I was able to find me 2 ECM's that match my 200 hp honda. They are used and claim to be working. Should I reset the codes on them before starting engine? What do you recommend to avoid risk of damaging anything on my computer?

If you are using an HDS or DOCTOR H then yes. Anything else beyond that then disreguard my response. Thank's Martin

I was thinking of resetting with the kill switch and jumping the harness on the motor.
