Honda 1999 BF-130 Stuck Extension Separator

Hi,
I included a pic out of my honda repair manual and can't seem to get the "extension separator" free from the engine. I've fully removed the lower unit and need to replace the shaft bushing in the extension separator. It seems like the separator should slide down but is frozen. Am I missing something? I've used chisels, heat, PB buster. I can get one end to move 1/2 inch but the other end is frozen. Thanks.

Generally lots of heat, pb blaster, etc work.

I assume it is frozen due to salt.

Not being in a salt water area, I am not familiar with a lot of the salt removal solutions.

As a thought....could you soak it in a plastic tube with a salt removal solution for a day or so? That might help free it up.

Maybe some oil based solution too....

Just trying to throw some thoughts out there...hopefully someone will come up with something better.

Good luck.

Mike

Thanks Hondadude. I'm gonna give it another try today or tomorrow. I spoke to my local honda marine dealer and he looked at the drawing with me and said there were not any hidden fasteners to remove. Like you said PB Blaster, heat and it should come off. Good game with Dallas and Cinninnati yesterday. I was rooting for the bengals as I am from there. Hopefully I won't destroy this casing piece as a new one is 800 bucks. Also I like your idea of soaking it in a plastic tub with a salt removal solution. My boat is only used in salt water and corrosion is a real problem here. Thanks for the boost. Jeff
