I have 86' 270 Crusaders

I have 86' 270 Crusaders in a 34' Silverton Convertible with the original Rochester carbs that need constant tuning/work. I want to replace them; does anyone have any recommendations for Edelbrock or Holley? What cfm should I go with?

Thanks for any help!

I can't say from personal

I can't say from personal experience but a friend with my same boat opted for the Holly Carbs. After the end of the second season he told me he should have gotten the Edelbrock 1410's. Likely his experience but he is not totally pleased with the performance of the Holly units. 750cfm

just replaced one of my roches

just replaced one of my rochesters with an Edelbrock marine performer 600cfm on my twin crusader 350's. runs great. im ordering another for my starboard engine. dont get the holley.tend to run rich and leak.

"In checking with Edelbrock,as

"In checking with Edelbrock,as I am looking into the same change, there is no 1420. They recommend the 1406 small block or the 1410 big block"

"Yup, I could'nt remember

"Yup, I could'nt remember the number but IN MY APPLICATION, the Supreme 33C threaded cable end (which is a nylon block with an EYE in it) was a simple bolt with a few washers and a nylock nut attached to the TOP part of the throttle arm. I do use an adapter plate to the crusader intake manifold and the carb bolts directly. OF COURSE, you need to know that my current set up is CARTER 9780S which is likley the exact copy of the Edelbrock. In fact, I used the 1410 instruction manual to guide me thru the rebuild adn adjustment set up. Works like a charm....I am setting it up with the new 1410's however, the day we drop in back in the water next year, since we need new carbs anyway."
